At the start of every year, we look ahead with renewed joy,
But that can all be taken away with a part of a bill being discussed in Illinois.
The whole state could end up being an actual fail
Because the Land of Lincoln could eliminate cash bail.
The verdict from the Illinois Supreme Court will come in March.
If there will no longer be cash bail, then this state will be starched.
Excessive cash bail and fines are banned in the 8th Amendment of the US Constitution,
But the intent of this amendment shows that offenders of the law still have to pay restitution.
If no bail passes, then anyone that commits a crime
Will receive a slap on the wrist and no jail time.
Trusting criminals to live up to their end of showing up for their court date
Would put Illinois in a horrible fate.
Elimination of cash bail has a terrible flaw
Because a person can murder someone and burn down a house and only receive like a parking ticket under the new law.
People would become more callous with no remorse like how a kitten kills a mouse.
If this law happens, then we will have hundreds of murderers free to roam around in the state like Kyle Rittenhouse.
Other crimes that people would be able to commit and would only receive a citation
Would be robbery, drug offenses, DUI, assault, battery, and illegal gun possession.
Then, legislators have the nerve to call this the SAFE-T Act
When the result would be an increase in crime, and that’s a fact.
No matter what happens, always look to protect yourself
Because with this law, common sense was left on the shelf.
